Mommy and Daddy on a date?

For some reason Mommy and Daddy were all excited this morning. They both had the day off, but the day care was open. I couldn't understand all the excitement. They dropped me off at day care around 10 in the morning and came back at about 5. Suspiciously, they were all sunburned! I think they went and had a date without me. In fact, I overheard Mommy say something about this being the first day they've had together, just the two of them, since I've been ALIVE! But I will say they sure seemed in a good mood when they got back, and then gave me lots of lovies! I think they really did miss me.

Fun around the house

I just wanted to show you some pictures of me doing fun things around the house!

Here I have discovered a shortcut around the couch, through the end table. Really, it doesn't save me much time, but sure is fun anyway! I've discovered I like crawling through tunnels and anything like them, so I take this "shortcut" just about every time.

One of my favorite spots to hang out is right next to the refrigerator when Mommy or Daddy is in the kitchen. I know they'll open it eventually, and that's my chance to sneak in!

One of my favorite toys is still the airplane that Grandma Roslewski bought me almost a year ago. I push it all around the house sometimes, and I can now even climb on it myself and roll around! Mommy and Daddy always know where I am, though, because I keep my hand pressed on the buttons at all times, so it continually makes music! For this trip, Daddy loaded up one of my teddy bears (this one is "Rusty Bear") so I could give him a ride around the house.

I climbed on it myself, but something seemed wrong. I rolled around anyway!

Another one of my favorite toys in the kitchen is another Grandma Roslewski gift, this one makes lots of music and other noises. Grandma likes toys that make noise. Of course, when I can combine the airplane music with this one, it gets really silly and really fun!

Want to hear it all? Click on the movie below. I think Mommy and Daddy love it too, see they even thank Grandma!

My big conversation

I've been working on my conversational skills, and this week I've had the same one with Daddy several times. It always going something like this:

Me: Dada

Daddy: Yes, sweetie?

Me: HI!

Me: DA-DA

Daddy: Yes, sweetie?

Me: Hi

Me: DA-DA!

Daddy: Yes, sweetie?

Me: hi

Daddy thinks it's very adorable.

What a week!

This has been a really big week for me. I've learned lots of new things.

You remember from 2 weeks ago when I was just getting my molars, 3 of them all at the same time? Well, they're in now, and boy am I enjoying using them! Much to Daddy's delight, I have discovered the wonderful taste of chicken, beef, and pork, which I didn't like too much before (since I couldn't chew them very well) but now I can't cram the pieces in fast enough. You should see some of the bites I try to take! Mommy says I eat like Daddy. That makes Daddy pat my head and tell me how much he loves me!

I'm getting much better on my waving. I used to just wave at everything, but now I usually limit my waving to say "hi" or goodbye". I'm really starting to get the hang of it.

I am also working on my words, and my last challenge is learning to say "Hi". I'm getting it! Sometimes it comes out sounding a little more like "Ha", which Daddy says must be my Oklahoma accent. He's silly!

Two weeks ago I learned to crawl up steps, but now I even can crawl up on the fireplace at home. I'm very cute sitting up on the fireplace, but at first I didn't really know how to get down, so Mommy and Daddy had to help me. But now I think I've got the hang of that too!

I have also found out that if I shake the maraca I've got, Mommy and Daddy will do a little dance for me. But when I stop shaking, they stop! Then they'll start again when I start again. It's very funny and makes me giggle.

I'm really having a lot of fun playing with Mommy and Daddy. If they leave the shower door open, I like to crawl inside and try to hide from them. But they always find me, after which I let out a big laugh and squeal! It's so fun. I'm really getting better at rolling a ball too!

I've also learned that Mommy's teddy bear "Pookie" is very soft and huggable. When I see him I let out a little laugh and then grab him and give him a BIG hug! Mommy and Daddy think this is very adorable of course.

Like I said, it's been a big week!

Wooow! My first kiss!

Today I got my first kiss - from an older boy, no less!

Mommy dropped me off at day care this morning and I was very sad to see her go. As she walked away I started crying. But then Luke, one of the older boys in the room (he's 2 years old!) came over and gave me a big hug to comfort me, patting me on the back. I was still fussy, so he leaned in and gave me a big smooch on the cheek. After that I felt much better!

Uh - Oh -- Houston, I have a problem

As I've mentioned before, sometimes Mommy and Daddy think I should document something once I've noticed a trend. At first, Mommy just thought it was a coincidence that I kept saying "uh-oh" when I had a poopy diaper. Then it happened a second time. Well, this evening Daddy thought I was being really cute when I started saying "uh-oh." Mommy told Daddy he should check my diaper to see if I'd made a mess in it. (I'm a baby, these things happen, you know.) Sure enough, I had a great present for him. Uh-oh!

3 new molars

Today didn't start off that well for me. It seems I got a fever, along with an ear infection, and did I mention I have 3 molars coming in at the same time? So I was not my happy and cheery self. I didn't want to eat anything and felt pretty miserable.

But I did pose for a quick family photo!

Then we headed back. I slept the whole flight back, which took a little over an hour due to headwinds. But I didn't notice, I was sleeping really soundly!

2 new challenges and 1 old one

Grandma and Grandpa have STAIRS in their house. We don't at home, so this was an exciting new challenge for me to undertake. Well, I managed to crawl up all of them - all 17! It took me a little while, but with Daddy in front of me and Grandma behind, I had all the encouragement I needed. Next time maybe I'll try to go down them (and likely scare Mommy)!

Daddy and Grandma also worked with me on learning to roll a ball. I actually picked it up pretty quick! At first I would just crawl over and hand them the ball, but then I started to get the hang of it, and was soon tossing the ball back every time! Look at this action shot Mommy got.

To show Grandma how far I've come, I showed her some of newfound walking skills. Look at me go! I still don't get that many steps before falling over, but I get better all the time! I think I made it up to 10 steps this weekend.

Belated birthday party for me!

You will remember that on my birthday this year, Grandpa Roslewski was still recovering from his surgery and they couldn't make it down to see me. So when we came up this weekend, we had another birthday party! I like birthday parties!

Here is my cake. Grandma saved the little train engine from when Daddy was my age!

Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Piper!

I got to unwrap some more presents. This is the second airplane Grandma has bought for me. Daddy's jealous!

I also got this fridge farm magnet toy. It's pretty fun! When you put the wrong front and rear animal halves together, it sings a great little song. Mommy and Daddy have it very well memorized by now! After a bit of practice, I was even sometimes able to put the pieces in all by myself.

Over the clouds and through the sky...

... to Grandmother's house we go!

For those of you who have been keeping tabs on my blog, you know that last 4th of July I got my first ground school lesson in Daddy's plane. Then a few weeks ago I got to go flying for the first time. Well this 4th of July we went out to the airport again, this time for my first long flight - to Grandpa and Grandma Roslewski's house for the weekend! It was a nice flight of about an hour, and I ended up falling asleep about halfway through it.

When we got there we were greeted at the airport by Grandma and also by my Uncle Randy. This was my first time getting to meet my Uncle Randy, and let me tell you one thing - that man is HUGE! I thought Daddy was pretty big, but at 6'6", Uncle Randy is positively gigantic!
