Grandma and Grandpa visited again

Today Grandma and Grandpa Roslewski came down from Tulsa for another visit, the first since I left the hospital. They are such proud grandparents! I was a pretty good girl for them.
They brought me something really exciting, the Danny and the Dinosaur book that Daddy had started reading to me when we were at the doctor's office the other day. I'm so glad I finally found out the end of the story. I'm sure Daddy will read it to me again.

Two-week checkup

It's already time for my two-week checkup, so Mommy and Daddy took me to the pediatrician's office. While we were waiting, Daddy read to me from "Danny and the Dinosaur", a book he remembered as a child. We didn't get to finish it though, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it ends!

I weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and am still 21 inches tall. The doctor said I was in the 50th percentile for weight and head circumference, and the 75th percentile for height.

First overnight visitors

Today my parents' good friends Stan and Nicole Farrell came to see me all the way from Phoenix, Arizona. They stayed overnight, so I hope I wasn't too bad and didn't keep them up all night.

My first smile

Today Daddy claims he saw me smile for the first time. Mommy thinks it was just gas. I'm only a week old, after all!

Happy Father's Day

This was my Daddy's first Father's Day, so of course I couldn't end the day without giving him a little present. What a little "stinker" I am! I'm sure I "projected" my sentiments well. I hope he didn't "poo-poo" my gift. I really tried hard to "go the distance" with it.

Weight check okay!

Well I weighed the same 7 pounds, 0 ounces today so hopefully I've stopped losing and will start gaining. No more doctors until the 2-week checkup!

4-day bilirubin and weight check

It's been 4 days since I was born, so it's time for a bilirubin check to determine jaundice and a weight check. The bilirubin check went well as I was within limits. I'm down to 7 pounds, 0 ounces now, though, which is right at the limit, so they want to weigh me again tomorrow.

Heading home from the hospital today

Today was another big day, we finally left the hospital this evening. Daddy got me all buckled into the car seat for safety, and we headed home.

My Name and My First Visitors

Today Mommy and Daddy finally decided on a name for me. Mommy wanted to name me Rose Edna. Daddy thought Rose Roslewski sounded ridiculous. And Daddy said "Absolutely NOT" to Edna being my first name. Daddy loves flying his Piper airplane. He promised Mommy that he would love "Baby Roslewski" even more than flying, so he wanted to name me Piper. Mommy agreed as long as we used "Edna-Rose" for my middle name. Mommy's grandmothers were named Edna (who went by Eddie) and Rose, so that's where those names come from. (Plus my Grandma Stoller is named Edna, too, but she goes by Bunny.)

I had my first visitors, Grandma and Grandpa Roslewski. They were very excited to see me! They were only here for a couple of hours, but we had fun together. Here is Grandma holding me.

I don't think Grandpa is ready to hand me off to Grandma quite yet.

After such a tough day, I curled up with some good reading material!

I just arrived!

Today was my birthday! I was delivered at 9:53 PM today, June 11th. I am 21 inches long and weigh 7 pounds, 12 ounces. It was a hard day. Mommy was in labor for 16 hours after being induced this morning. It was very tough on her. I hope that someday I can let her know how much I appreciate what she went through to have me.

It wasn't easy on me either, though! I was squished and pushed for most of those 16 hours. I was having problems figuring out which way the exit was, so eventually the doctor reached in with the forceps and pulled me out. I sure had a big cone head! The nurses reassured Mommy and Daddy that it would get better quickly. I hope so!

I had a little trouble breathing at first, so the nurses put me on oxygen for a little while. This didn't last long, maybe 20 minutes, and then all my alveoli were working and I could breathe on my own.

I also had my first bath. I didn't like it very much and made a little bit of a fuss, but I looked so much better when it was over.

One of the first things everybody noticed was my long fingers and feet. Given the size of my grandparents, aunts, and uncles, I'm sure to grow nice and tall.

Well it's been a tough day. I think Mommy and Daddy want to get some sleep. But I hope they figure out a name for me soon. I don't want to be known as "Baby Roslewski" all my life!
