Newport Aquarium

Today was pretty cold and cloudy so we went down to Cincinnati to the Newport Aquarium.  It's actually in Kentucky, so I added another state to the list of those that I've been to!  I knew there were going to be sharks there, so the whole time I kept asking "where are the sharks?"  Of course, they were at the very end!

I got to touch a horseshoe crab and a starfish!  The horseshoe crab was super big, and the lady even turned it upside down so we could see all its legs.  Ewww!

I was really fascinated by the Japanese Spider Crabs.  They were huge!  I watched them for a long time until Daddy had to pull me away.  They were neat!

They had an aviary too, and I got to feed some of the birds!  A few of them were even fighting for the cup.  They were pretty hungry.

The jellyfish were super neat too!

At last, the sharks!  Daddy, LOOK!  Take a picture, quick!  Some of the tanks in the aquarium went all the way over our heads and down the other side of the walkway.  And one you could even stand on top of!

AAAHHH!  This big fish scared me a little as it swam by, right next to where I was standing!

It was a wonderful day at the aquarium, and it sure was nice to get out and do something different.  We had a lot of fun.

Grandma Roslewski MADE me a princess dress!

I got a package in the mail today!  When I saw it sitting on the front porch, I knew right away it was from Grandma Roslewski because it had a fun sticker on the outside.  So I couldn't wait to open it up!  I had no idea what it might be, because it's not my birthday or Christmas either.  But as I took it out of the box, I could see a little corner of pink through the tissue paper.  I said "I know what it is, it's pink!"

Once I got it all unwrapped, wow!  Grandma had handmade an absolutely gorgeous new princess dress for me!  It was really pretty and I couldn't wait to put it on.  There was a beautiful tiara and some real big-girl high heels too!

Daddy and Mommy thought maybe I should get dressed in my room instead of the front living room with all the curtainless windows.  I had to make some adjustments to my tiara in the mirror in their room.  After Daddy took the picture, Mommy told him how much it reminded her of a similar picture from Christmas 2009!

Mommy and Daddy couldn't believe how pretty and grown-up I looked.  Needless to say, right away I wanted to find out how much it twirled.  It twirls a lot, especially since in all the excitement we forgot to put on the belt.  It is really a wonderful dress, and all handmade just for me!  Thank you thank you Grandma!

My friends are keeping me awake!

After Mommy and Daddy put me to bed, I stayed up a while playing with my stuffed animal friends.  I heard Daddy start to go downstairs, and called out to him, for just one more hug and kiss.  When he came in, we had a conversation that went something like this:

Daddy: Hi pumpkin, have you been playing with your friends?
Me: Yes.
Daddy: Do try to go to sleep soon.  You need your sleep to get big and strong.
Me: I have been trying to go to sleep, but my friends keep waking me up!

These noisy friends I have!

My pretty new dress!

Mommy and I went shopping last week, especially for some new summer dresses, and we came up with some good finds, all at the "Once Upon A Child" store, too!  I was very excited to put on one of them for church today.  Daddy caught me as I was coming down the stairs and told me to "stop", because he needed to get a picture!  He and Mommy both thought I looked so grown up!

Of course, when I got downstairs what I really wanted to do was show Daddy how much the dress twirled.  I took off the cardigan knowing I was going to get too hot with all this twirling!

Wheee!

Zoe and Mia's birthday party!

I have been very excited all week, because today is Zoe and Mia's birthday party!  Zoe is 8 and Mia is 5, and I was ready for a great time.  When I saw that they got a trampoline for their birthday, it's the first thing I wanted to do!  So Mia and I bounced around until it was someone else's turn.

They also had a bag-of-candy piñata for us to swing at and try to break open.  I took some pretty strong swings, but couldn't quite do it!

Later, Daddy even got on the trampoline with me.  Lucky for us, he just squeaked under the 220 lb weight limit.

Size of the earth and our pretty tree!

Today I turned to Daddy and told him, "Daddy, did you know that the Earth is the biggest rock?"

Followed by, "I think it's even bigger than my head!"

I love learning new things!

And look at our tree out front.  It's really pretty.  I call it my tree because it's right outside my window.  The unseasonably warm weather we've been having this year has everything in bloom much earlier than last year.  It was 86 degrees today!

What a warm day!

It was super nice and warm today (in the 70's), and I tried to take as much advantage of it as I could!

When Daddy picked me up, I had just come in from recess.  Earlier he had mentioned going to a NEW park today if the weather was nice, and it sure was, so when I saw him the first words out of my mouth were "Daddy, can we go to the new park?"  We did, and it was a lot of fun (until I bumped my chin and bit my tongue).

We went home and I disappeared for a few minutes.  Daddy and Mommy wondered where I had gone, when I practically ran down the stairs and jumped in front of them, showing them that I had changed into shorts (super quickly!) and was ready for more play.

Daddy and I played a lot of games.  We played frisbee, hit the wiffle ball (I started doing really well), played hide and seek, and chase too!

I wasn't done, because I thought it would be a great idea to eat dinner outside.  Mommy and Daddy agreed!

When bedtime came around, I sure didn't want to go to bed, but once they got me in there I fell asleep right away.  I was tired.  What a day!

I am 4 3/4!

I turned 4 3/4 on Sunday.  When Mommy pointed this out to me, I took right to it!  I've been telling everybody who wants to know.  I like it even better than 4 1/2!

Mommy and I made "Wow-wow" pies!

Mommy decided to do a little baking today, so her and I got to make "Wow-wow" pies!  They are yummy chocolate "sandwiches" with a creamy filling.  She got the recipe years ago from Grandma Roslewski, who calls them "Whoopie Pies".  Mommy once couldn't remember quite what they were called, called them "Wow-wow Pies", and the name has stuck in our house!  Whatever they're called, we sure had fun making them.   And eating them!

Daddy thinks his ladies look really cute in our aprons!

I'm registered for Kindergarten!

Mommy went to the Beavercreek school offices today and registered me for Kindergarten!  Can you believe it?
