Grandma Roslewski flies in a helicopter!

Daddy has been promising Grandma Roslewski for a long time that he would take her flying in a helicopter someday. He just had to get his license first! Well he finished that up last month, so last night Grandma and Grandpa Roslewski came down to visit. They were very excited to see me, it had been about two months since their last visit and I've sure grown up a bunch! I am talking up a storm now and had a great time with them.

Of course, like I said, Daddy "owed" Grandma a helicopter ride. So this morning we headed up to the airport to watch! Daddy checked the helicopter out pretty thoroughly, and then saw that I really wanted to crawl inside! He set me right up on his lap.

When Grandma got in, I wanted to sit on her lap too! Well, you can see by the way that I'm waving that I'm all ready to go flying.

But of course they wouldn't let me go! So Mommy, Grandpa and I had to watch from a distance as they took off.

Daddy took Grandma over the city and over our house, and in just a little bit, they were back! After the engine stopped, Mommy let me run on out to meet them. Grandma said she had a really great time!

Now, somehow Grandpa worked his way into Daddy's deal with Grandma and got a flight of his own. Daddy thought he should certainly be polite and offer, and of course Grandpa didn't turn it down. While we were waiting for them to return, Grandma and I were having our own fun. Grandma's being silly wearing my sunglasses!

After all the excitement of flying, we went to eat at the restaurant right there on the airport! We could see planes landing as we ate, and they had some fun airplane toys for me to play with.

But the day wasn't over yet! When we got home, Grandma, Daddy, Shadow and I all went to the park down the street. I got to show Grandma what a big girl I am and climbed all over the playground equipment.

That night after they left, I finally started calling Grandma by name - I'm trying to say Granny, but I can't get the "Gr" sound quite right, so it sure comes out sounding like "Banny". But it's a start, and Grandma's happy I'm saying her name.

What a day! Thanks for coming over, "Pa-pa" and "Banny"!

I've discovered I can get out of bed by myself

Well it took me 10 days, but tonight I figured out that with my new bed, unlike my crib, I can get up in the middle of the night without any help!

Mommy and Daddy were glad it wasn't quite the middle of the night, but about an hour after they put me to bed, Mommy caught me walking down the hall! I had opened my door and let myself out. I did get to pet the kitties a little but then Daddy took me back to bed, where I fell right back asleep.

They know it's only a matter of time before I ask to cuddle with them in the middle of the night!

Daddy got new binoculars

Daddy got a new pair of binoculars that he's going to use for looking at stars and planets and other astronomical purposes. Well, when I saw the new ones I knew it must mean that their old small pair must now be for me! So I picked them up and tried to look through them just like Daddy.

I don't really know what they're for yet, but Daddy sure seems to like them. He's found out that a simple pair of binoculars is in many ways better than a telescope for looking at space. The last few days he's been watching Jupiter and its 4 largest moons. In fact, he was able to take a picture with the camera and a zoom lens and see all four moons!

Jupiter is the bright spot in the center. The four moons are in a line from lower left to upper right, but two of the moons overlap from our view just to the left of Jupiter, so it only looks like 3. Daddy thinks this stuff is really neat! I'm sure he'll tell me all about it when I'm a little older.

Madagascar 2

Tonight Mommy, Miss Jeurney and I watched the movie "Madagascar 2". I really liked it. It has a lot of music and dancing in it, and I certainly got in the mood! Daddy went running, and when he came back, I was bouncing all around on the couch to the music! Daddy wondered what was going on!

Happy Birthday Miss Jeurney!

It just so happens that today is Miss Jeurney's birthday, so we went out to eat to celebrate. I got to have some spaghetti, and sure seemed to like it. Miss Jeurney and I have been having a lot of fun together. I'm glad she's here!

Puppets from Grandma Stoller and Aunt Jennifer!

I got a package in the mail today! Inside were these great barnyard hand puppets - a cow, chicken, pig, and sheep. They were from Grandma Stoller and Aunt Jennifer. I really like them, although I need help to get them on my hands. Mommy and Daddy and I have been having a great time with them!

Daddy's "Okie Derby" airplane race

This morning Daddy and his friend Steve competed in the annual "Okie Derby" air race. It's not really a race for speed, but rather they have to predict their time and fuel burn over a 200+ mile course. The course isn't revealed until the night before. The team that gets closest to their estimates wins! Well Daddy and Mr. Steve did really well. This was their first time competing, and they were only 7 seconds off of their time, and just 0.1 gallons off on their fuel usage! They took second place!

Mr. Steve couldn't make it to the awards banquet, so I got to stand in for him as Daddy got their trophies. Daddy can't wait until I'm big enough to be his copilot! (Maybe next year?)

We've got a house guest!

One of Mommy's coworkers needed a place to stay for a couple of weeks before she heads over to Iraq, so since we've got a spare bedroom, Mommy said she should stay with us. Her name is Miss Jeurney. She seems really nice and I bet we'll have a lot of fun together!

I like rice!

I'm a really picky eater. But tonight I really wanted rice. Mommy gave me a serving spoon so I could serve myself, but I decided this was quicker!

First night on new bed

Mommy and Daddy were both surprised (and happy) that I slept the whole night on my new bed! I didn't get up once!

Daddy even took a picture of me when he came in this morning to get me up. I was pretty comfortable.

Big girl bed!

Mommy’s boss found out that I was starting to get too big for my crib, so he offered us his daughter’s old toddler bed. I was very excited about this! Daddy kept preparing me by asking if I wanted a big girl bed, and I didn’t have to think about it at all – Yes! So tonight Mommy brought it home and Daddy and I got to assemble it! We both think this is great fun, and Mommy sure is glad that we do. So Daddy and I got right to work, with me being a big help.

Grandma Roslewski will laugh when she notices something very familiar about my face in this picture!

Daddy and I are silly sometimes!

When we got it all assembled, I jumped right up on it to test it out. I like it!

You can see that I'm in my pajamas and all ready for bed. So we went through our normal nighttime routine. But when Daddy tried to lay me down in my new bed, I started fussing a little. You see, I'm a big girl now with a big girl bed and wanted to climb into it myself! So Daddy put me down onto the floor and I climbed on up. For some reason I don't want a pillow anymore, even though I've wanted one for the last few weeks in my crib. But I've got my friends with me and I went right to sleep! I like my new bed!

Chocolate cake!

Today we went to do some shopping at Sam’s Club. Guess what they have there? Giant chocolate cakes! While Daddy was off looking at motor oil or something, I saw them in the display case and really didn't want to leave without one. Fortunately Mommy didn’t really need a whole lot of convincing to buy one. Of course, now that we had a big chocolate cake I no longer wanted to help push the cart, I wanted to sit in it next to the cake!

My favorite part is the chocolate shavings on the sides. I like to pick them off if I can get away with it.

Yum!

Daddy's home! And he brought cats!

Daddy came home from Washington, DC tonight, and he brought two furry friends, Pitch and Little Girl! They are Mommy’s friend Charlie’s cats. Auntie Charlie is deploying with the Air Force to Afghanistan for 4 months, and Mommy agreed to watch her cats for her. Since Auntie Charlie lives in the DC area, it was very convenient that Daddy had a trip out that way too! It’s going to take Pitch and Little Girl some time to get used to me, but I am very interested in them! We’ll be sure to get some pictures soon.

I am very glad Daddy’s back, and he’s very glad to be back. He missed me very much the 3 nights he was gone. So when he got back, we got down to some serious playing to make up for lost time! Here I am reading a book with him.

Daddy's out of town!

Daddy told me on Monday night that he would be gone for the next few nights on business, to Washington DC. Well I sure missed him last night! When Mommy was putting me to bed, I kept asking "Where's Daddy?", and she'd remind me that Daddy would be gone for the next few nights.

This morning when Mommy came in to wake me up, I looked up, saw her and said "No, Daddy!", rolled over, and actually fell back asleep snoring! Mommy felt a little sad about it. Sorry Mommy! Daddy is usually the one to get me out of bed in the morning, and I wasn't expecting Mommy.

Park with Daddy, and tucking him in

Daddy and I went to the park this morning. I ran almost all the way there! I can run pretty fast now. It even takes Mommy and Daddy some effort to catch up! So we got to the park, and after I went on the kiddie swings, I wanted to go on the big swings - by myself! The last time we tried this I didn't do a good job of holding on. But I'm a lot bigger now, so Daddy kept telling me I needed to hold on tight, and I sure did. He didn't push me real high, but I still liked being on the big swing!

Later today I asked (told) Daddy to lay down on my mat in the living room. So he did, and I went ahead and tucked him in with my little blanket! I then patted his back like he does when he tucks me in at night. A couple times he lifted his head up, but I was quick to tell him "lay down Daddy"!

I counted to 10!

Today Daddy heard me count all the way to 10, on my own, without even being asked to! I was sitting at the table, and just started counting. Mommy and he were pretty amazed!

My favorite numbers are still 3, 4, 5, 6, which I repeat quite often. But every once in a while I'll come out with the others!
